The Interior Designer is responsible for creating functional, aesthetically pleasing, and safe interior spaces that meet clients’ needs and preferences. Typical duties and responsibilities

• Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget. Conduct site assessments to gather information and assess existing conditions.
• Create design concepts and present ideas to clients using mood boards, sketches, or digital renderings. Develop design plans that include spatial layouts, color schemes, and material selections.
• Source and recommend furnishings, materials, and finishes that align with the design concept and client preferences. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to acquire necessary items.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation to guide the implementation of design plans. Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Oversee the execution of design projects, including managing timelines, budgets, and subcontractors. Address any issues or changes that arise during the project.
• Communicate regularly with clients throughout the project to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with the design process and outcome.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure the design is implemented correctly. Ensure that all work meets quality standards and project specifications.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in interior design, with a proven portfolio of completed projects.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong creative skills and an eye for detail, with the ability to develop innovative and functional design solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas and collaborate with clients and team members.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with specialized types of design such as sustainable design, hospitality, or commercial interiors.
• Proficiency in advanced design tools or visualization software (e.g., 3D modeling, virtual reality).
• Certification from professional organizations like NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) is preferred.
• A strong network of vendors, contractors, and suppliers is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
