General overview of the role

A Solutions Architect designs and implements technology solutions that align with an organization’s business goals. This role involves analyzing complex requirements, selecting the appropriate technology stack, and creating frameworks that guide technical teams. Solutions Architects work closely with stakeholders and other technical experts to ensure cohesive, scalable, and efficient solutions across the company.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Analyze business requirements and define technical solutions that address current and future needs.
2. Design system architectures, considering scalability, security, and performance.
3. Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to ensure solution feasibility and integration.
4. Provide technical guidance and best practices for project implementation, including code quality and security standards.
5. Oversee the implementation process, including proof-of-concepts (POCs), and ensure alignment with business and technical objectives.
6. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, platforms, and software to enhance efficiency and meet business needs.
7. Document solution architecture and present design proposals to stakeholders.

Required skills and experience

• Proficiency in system architecture design and a broad understanding of software, cloud, and database technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integration of various technologies.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems design, or a similar role.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
• Familiarity with Agile project management and DevOps practices.
• Experience with security architecture and compliance.
• Experience in specific industries relevant to the organization (e.g., finance, healthcare, or e-commerce).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Proficiency with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
