General overview of the role

Software Analyst analyzes, designs, and supports software systems to ensure alignment with business requirements. This role involves overseeing the software development, managing configurations, and maintaining system security. Additionally, Software Analyst prepares Software Requirement Specification (SRS) documentation, offering detailed descriptions to guide developers and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Collaborate with business stakeholders and end users to gather and document software requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of project goals.
2. Work closely with developers to design, test, and implement new software features or updates.
3. Provide ongoing support for software applications, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to performance, functionality, and security.
4. Develop and maintain technical documentation outlining functional requirements, processes, workflows, and software architecture.
5. Conduct in-depth analysis of current software systems, identifying opportunities for optimization, enhancement, or new feature development.
6. Manage project scope, requirements, and priorities, documenting changes to minimize disruption and ensure transparency.
7. Assess software systems for scalability, performance, and security and provide actionable improvement recommendations.
8. Identify potential risks and issues and proactively develop strategies to mitigate them.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in software analysis, systems design, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies such as Scrum or Agile.
• Proficiency with software analysis and documentation tools, including Confluence and JIRA.
• Experience with technical aspects of software systems, including familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) and database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and integration tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other cloud-based solutions.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of data analysis and experience with data visualization tools.
