General overview of the role

The role of a Cloud Security Engineer involves designing and implementing comprehensive security measures for cloud infrastructure. Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Design secure cloud solutions for AWS, Azure, or GCP.
2. Manage cloud security monitoring and incident response.
3. Implement and manage IAM policies and controls.
4. Perform vulnerability scans and risk analysis.
5. Ensure cloud environments meet security and regulatory requirements.
6. Automate security processes and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
7. Handle cloud security incidents and perform remediation.
8. Maintain cloud security documentation.

Required skills and experience

• Proven work experience in cloud security or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and integrating security processes with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security services and features in cloud platforms, such as AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Azure Security Center, Google Cloud Security Command Center, Google Cloud IAM.
• Experience with cloud security tools (e.g., AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, Google Cloud Security Command Center).
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
• Good understanding of GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2.
• Experience with security incidents and threat analysis.
• Knowledge of IAM policies.
• Skills in vulnerability scanning.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Relevant certifications (such as CISSP, AWS Certified Security Specialty, and Azure Security Engineer).
• Familiarity with NIST, OWASP.
• Experience in cloud penetration testing.
• Ethical hacking, cybersecurity.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills.
