A video editor is responsible for transforming raw footage into high-quality, engaging final products through creative and technical post-production processes. Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Review and analyze raw footage to determine the shot selection and create shot lists.
2. Edit and assemble footage using industry-standard software to create cohesive narratives.
3. Collaborate with directors and production teams to understand and execute creative vision.
4. Add and synchronize audio elements, including dialogue, sound effects, and music.
5. Implement visual effects, motion graphics, and color correction to enhance footage.
6. Maintain continuity and logical sequence throughout projects.
7. Create and adjust content for multiple platforms (social media, broadcast, streaming).
8. Manage and organize digital assets and project files.
9. Ensure technical quality standards are met for various delivery formats.
10. Provide creative input during pre-production and production phases.
11. Make revisions based on stakeholder feedback.
12. Export and prepare final deliverables according to technical specifications.

Required skills and experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of professional video editing experience.
• Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer).
• Experience with collaborative tools (Frame.io, DaVinci Resolve).
• Strong knowledge of video post-production workflow and best practices.
• Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software (After Effects, Photoshop).
• Understanding of audio editing and sound design principles.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Strong organizational and file management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Portfolio demonstrating a variety of completed video projects.
• Knowledge of video codecs, formats, and delivery specifications.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with 3D composition and advanced special effects.
• Knowledge of live production and streaming workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies, Video Production, or related field.
• Certification in relevant software applications (Adobe, Avid).
• Experience with color grading and correction.
• Understanding of compression and encoding techniques.
• Background in cinematography or camera operation.
• Experience with script supervision and storytelling.
• Knowledge of broadcast standards and regulations.
• Familiarity with media asset management systems.
• Experience with multi-language versioning and subtitling.
• Portfolio of work for major brands or broadcast networks.
