Typical duties and responsibilities

• Develop and write CNC machine programs using G-code or other programming languages
• Analyze blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements
• Set up and operate CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and routers
• Optimize CNC programs for efficiency, accuracy, and tooling utilization
• Conduct test runs and adjust programs to ensure parts meet quality and precision standards
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve machining issues
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality
• Ensure proper handling and storage of tools and materials
• Maintain detailed records of machining processes, program changes, and maintenance activities
• Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry regulations
• Continuously improve programming techniques and machine operations

Required skills and experience

• Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code, M-code, or similar
• Experience with CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, and routers
• Strong understanding of machining techniques, tooling, and materials
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for creating and modifying CNC programs
• Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining CNC equipment
• Knowledge of safety protocols and industry standards related to CNC operations
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining or a related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in CNC programming or machining

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with automated quality control systems.
• Understanding of thermal dynamics in machining.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Experience with 5-axis CNC programming and machining.
• Experience with multiple CAM software packages like: Fusion 360, HSMWorks, ESPRIT, Siemens NX.
