Typical duties and responsibilities

3. Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.
4. Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, adapting strategies accordingly.
5. Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
6. Lead the detection, investigation, and resolution of cybersecurity incidents and breaches.
7. Create and maintain an incident response plan (IRP) to minimize the impact of security incidents.
8. Design and implement security awareness programs to educate employees on best practices and threat recognition.
9. Collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams to ensure comprehensive security coverage.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing and responding to cybersecurity incidents, including detection and recovery.
• Deep knowledge of network security, information security, identity and access management (IAM), and encryption technologies.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience building and mentoring cybersecurity teams.
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and managing vulnerabilities.
• Experience with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, endpoint protection, SIEM, and IAM solutions.
• Hands-on experience with risk assessment, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS, Metasploit).
• Familiarity with cloud security and managing security for AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong communication skills to explain cybersecurity issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Expertise in cloud security models and tools for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of integrating security practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience managing security initiatives and tasks using tools like Jira, Confluence, or Trello.
• Certifications in project management frameworks (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
