General overview of the role

A Motion Designer creates engaging and visually compelling animations, video graphics, and visual effects to support various digital projects. This role combines creativity with technical skills to produce animations for advertisements, websites, social media, and other multimedia platforms. Motion Designers are also responsible for bringing complex concepts to life through motion, enhancing storytelling, and creating a dynamic user experience. In addition, collaborating with marketing, product, and creative teams, they ensure the visuals effectively engage audiences and support the brand’s goals, helping to strengthen the overall brand identity and message.

Typical duties and responsibilities

• Collaborate with creative directors, designers, and marketing teams to conceptualize and translate ideas into high-quality motion graphics.
• Create storyboards, mood boards, and design mockups for animation and video projects.
• Develop animations for various digital platforms (e.g., social media, websites, mobile apps, digital signage)
• Design and animate assets, including logos, typography, icons, and visual elements.
• Develop complex animations, transitions, and visual effects using tools like After Effects, Cinema 4D, or similar software.
• Work with 3D models and simulations when necessary, including compositing.
• Edit and refine raw video footage, adding motion graphics, titles, and effects where needed.
• Sync animations with sound or voiceovers to enhance visual storytelling.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (designers, developers, marketers) to ensure that motion graphics align with brand guidelines and project goals.
• Provide revisions and incorporate feedback from stakeholders throughout the design process.
• Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques to bring innovative motion designs to projects.
• Organize assets, animation files, and project documents for efficient workflow.
• Optimize animations and videos for different platforms, ensuring compatibility and performance.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Motion Design, Animation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 5 years of proven experience in motion design.
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator.
• Experience with 3D software such as Cinema 4D or Blender.
• Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and visual storytelling.
• Basic HTML, CSS, or JavaScript knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication,and collaboration skills.
• Adaptability to feedback and strong time management.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience

• Proficiency in 3D rendering tools such as Maya or Houdini.
• Knowledge of motion capture technology and immersive platforms like AR/VR.
• Experience creating animations for branding, advertising, e-learning, or mobile applications.
• Expertise in developing animated infographics and data visualizations.
• Familiarity with designing interactive animations for augmented and virtual reality experiences.
