General overview of the role

Quality Assurance Engineer designs, develops, and executes both exploratory and automated testing strategies to ensure product quality. This role supports the development process by identifying issues and ensuring that products meet the company’s standards. The QA Engineer collaborates with various departments to implement best practices, ensuring that quality standards are maintained throughout the product lifecycle. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Develop and implement comprehensive and well-structured test plans and cases.
2. Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools, such as Cypress and Selenium.
3. Identify, document, and thoroughly track bugs, ensuring all issues are recorded and followed up until resolution.
4. Develop and apply testing processes for both new and existing products to meet client specifications.
5. Liaise with internal teams, including developers and product managers, to determine system requirements and ensure alignment.
6. Oversee the debugging process and evaluate the results to enhance software reliability.
7. Monitor and report on key quality assurance metrics, such as defect density and open defect counts, to assess the overall quality.

Required skills and experience

• Proven working experience in software quality assurance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Expertise in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and cases.
• Proficiency in using automated testing tools, such as Selenium and Cypress.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development process.
• Background in performance and/or security testing.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Professional certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester, Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), or equivalent.
• Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#).
• Familiarity with test management software (e.g., QTest, Zephyr).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
