General overview of the role

A UX/UI Designer is responsible for crafting engaging and intuitive user experiences across web and mobile platforms. This role requires a profound understanding of user-centered design principles, an ability to transform complex requirements into elegant interface designs, and close collaboration with development teams to ensure seamless implementation. The designer also conducts user research, creates wireframes and prototypes, and iterates designs based on feedback and testing. By creating intuitive and engaging interfaces, UX/UI Designers help improve the overall user experience, leading to higher customer satisfaction and retention rates.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Design user-friendly interfaces for web and mobile applications.
2. Conduct user research and testing to inform design decisions.
3. Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps.
4. Develop high-fidelity prototypes and mockups.
5. Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions.
6. Ensure designs are consistent with brand guidelines and enhance user experience.
7. Iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing.
8. Stay up-to-date with UI/UX trends, techniques, and technologies.
9. Create and maintain design documentation, specifications, and style guides.
10. Participate in the creation of UX strategies and processes.
11. Conduct competitive analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.

Required skills and experience

• 3+ years of proven experience as a UX/UI Designer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Digital Arts, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of user-centered design projects.
• Hands-on user research to gather insights, identify user needs, and inform design decisions for optimal user experiences.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and InVision.
• Proficiency in UX research tools, such as FigJam, Miro, and HotJar.
• Understanding of accessibility guidelines such as WCAG or ADA.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
• Experience with responsive and adaptive design.
• Excellent visual design skills with a strong understanding of typography, color, and layout.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to articulate design concepts and decisions.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Relevant UX/UI design certifications, such as Nielsen Norman Group UX Certifications or Google UX Design Certificate.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Understanding of design systems and component libraries.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with motion design.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines, including WCAG 2.1 and ADA.
