General overview of the role

IT Compliance Analyst is critical in maintaining the organization’s IT environment by monitoring and enforcing compliance with IT policies and regulations. This work entails performing audits, identifying risks, and executing preventive measures to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure. Additionally, the IT Compliance Analyst collaborates with various departments to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, develops and updates compliance documentation, and provides training and support to staff on compliance issues.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Conduct regular audits on IT systems and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
2. Create and manage IT compliance rules and processes.
3. Identify and evaluate compliance hazards in the IT infrastructure.
4. Address and resolve identified compliance issues through appropriate measures.
5. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that compliance rules are understood and followed.
6. Monitor regulatory developments and revise policy accordingly.
7. Compile and deliver compliance reports to management.
8. Implement and oversee data protection measures to ensure compliance with relevant privacy regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA.

Required skills and experience

• Proven experience working as an IT Compliance Analyst or in a similar position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of IT compliance norms and laws.
• Experience doing IT audits and risk assessments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Certification in IT compliance or auditing (such as CISA or CISM).
• Experience with regulatory frameworks including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
• Good understanding of IT security best practices.
• Experience with compliance management software and tools (e.g., Qualys, Tenable) for monitoring and reporting compliance status.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex IT systems and identify potential compliance gaps and risks.
